A good moment to visit Estepona is during the Fiestas Mayores (3 - 10 of July). Also the Virgen del Carmen religious celebration (16 of July) is celebrated with a procession with many little fishing boats.

Estepona has a wonderful marina ESTEPONA PUERTO DEPORTIVO with capacity to 900 boats, located near the centre of town, and as night falls it is transformed into crowded and enjoyable night-spot.

The surroundings of Estepona are propitious for the practice of adventure and mountain sports. In addition it has a ESCUELA DE ARTE ECUESTRE founded in 1998 and located at 800 meters from the beach and not far from Sierra Bermeja.

Here is located SELWO. COSTA DEL SOL, a big nature park where everybody will discover a lot of animals from the five continents living in semi-freedom.

FESTIVITIES

The major festivities are from the 3rd to the 10th July. On the 16th July they celebrate the Virgen del Carmen with a showy maritime procession in which all the fishing boats participate, all adorned and sounding their horns.

On the night of the 23rd June they celebrated the San Juan Night on the beach with bonfires and fireworks. For good luck, the people dip their feet in the sea just after midnight and on the 15th May is the San Isidro fair.

TYPICAL DISHES

Country soup, chilled tomato and garlic soup known as 'gazpacho', barbecued sardines, the renowned Malaguenian fish fry-ups, or 'frituras', not to mention the salt-baked fish. Another typical dish is the 'tile-baked sardines' or 'sardinas a la teja'.
